THE YBIERNAS GATE

Those of us who came from Jaro, Lapaz, Iznart, and Delgado got off here, at the Ybiernas gate. Easter lived in a boarding house just across, and Bing down the road at that male bastion "Sunnyside." Andie, Jim, and Paz often walked from their homes to the Infante gate. Other Infante/Tanza residents were Mr. Aligaen and his family and Mrs. Jesena and her family, as well as Miss Leones and Mr. Manuel. Miss Leones's brother lived with her. Mrs. Soriano (Estela) lived across the Infante gate, and Mildred Gonzales further down. Jore came from Mandurriao and got off at the highway gate, as did everyone coming from Molo like Gerry, Itik, Tim. Rachel lived with her mom and her sister on General Luna (the highway), nearer San Agustin, and Belen and her sister Moni, who were in the care of a grand-aunt, lived in a boarding house across the highway gate. Some of us hung out at Belen's boarding house to play "Spirit of the Glass" - and, as Pinky said, scared ourselves silly as an ancient Egyptian entity or John F. Kennedy moved the glass to predict the end of the world and we tremulously asked WHEN?
