We often went home for lunch. Those of us from Jaro and La Paz waited
for the jeep near here, at the corner of Aldeguer and JM Basa. When we had 10 centavos to spare we bought piping hot salted peanuts to eat on the jeep - eating even the crunchy fried garlic, yes - or lanzones when they were in season (but the lanzones were more expensive). Siopao was even more of a treat. Across this street was Central Bakery which sold jelly rolls with sugar coating.
