This is not San Joaquin, but it is the same sea that goes down to San Joaquin - past Oton, Guimbal, Miag-ao.Ah - San Joaquin - and visits to Diana Edna (Bing)'s home, with her Nanny and Daddy and Nay Ani, Tay Iyas, Ng Estring and Uncle Lupe.... Their house was a short walk from the beach, where we lolled around and gathered smooth pebbles, and below a hill which we climbed, laughing all the way.
We listened to Herman's Hermits and ate the food Bing's family prepared: sticky purple-speckled (tapul) ibus with fat ripe mangoes: Bing's Nanny patient, kind and indulgent, and Bing's Daddy big and gruff and loving to all of us.
