SOME WORDS ABOUT THAT TIME:

ERNIE AMPARO: It seems only yesterday that we were students at UPIC. I recall that grand sounding "General Science Building," which wasn't much of a building, but I have pleasant memories of the place. Tim and I once glued Miss Zapanta's chair to the floor at the GSB. She wondered why the chair would not budge.

We used to play soccer or softball at that small field in front of the "Little Theater." It wasn't much of an athletic field, but that's where I've had the most fun playing softball or soccer.

We had class parties at Mrs. Javier's house. In one of those parties I might have mixed a tad too much rum with the punch. I believe it was Marilyn Hiponia who confirmed that the rum content might be on the high side. It was good punch and everyone enjoyed it.

We had very good and memorable teachers. They were dedicated and, by today's standards, rather strict. We even had a witty comic in Samson Divinagracia. I still recall him explaining that there is democracy and there is dinamakracy, which we practice in the Philippines. He also said that there were three salutations for women. There was "Miss," for the unmarried young woman, "Mrs," for the married woman, and "Missed." He might have been ahead of his time because we now have "Ms."
